We once again thank Ernst & Young
for agreeing to be the major sponsor of the awards and to all other
organisations who give of their time and expertise to strive to make Birmingham
a great place to work. The awards are organised by Mariann
Harris of Birmingham Early Years, Birmingham City Council
“You’ve got to be in it to win it!”
Businesses are being invited, and encouraged, to apply for the prestigious
Birmingham Best Business Awards for the Development of Work-Life Balance 2008,
in order to get the recognition they so rightly deserve.
Businesses that apply for the awards have the opportunity to share best practice
and to benchmark their business against others. The awards are open to
businesses of all sizes and from all sectors which are based, or have a base, in Birmingham.
The
application process is very straightforward and focuses on just four areas:
Work Patterns
Working arrangements that help employees and businesses balance work and life
responsibilities and needs
Leave Provision
Working practices that encourage flexibility, inclusion and best practice beyond
statute
Additional Work-Life Balance Activities
Activities that enhance the working environment and make your organisation an
employer of choice
Communication
How
you communicate and engage your employees in work-life balance for both them and
the business.
The awards are a platform to recognise and celebrate businesses that have boosted their performance and created
competitive advantage through the implementation of innovative approaches to
improving Work-Life Balance and flexible working which enhances both customer
and employee outcomes.
